Our friend Li Guangyou reported in mid June that he accompanied Li Yue’s family from Xian to Beijing. Before leaving Xian, he negotiated with the Chinese Disabled Assoc. on behalf of Li Yue’s family. He thought Li Yue had gotten the best possible care between China Red Cross and The China Disable Assoc. Now, Li Yue is in Beijing Buoai Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Li said the facility looked quite impressive. Li Guangyou also received prosthesis donation from a major German prosthetics company Oaao Bock. I think Li Yue is in good hands now.
Little background info: Li Yue was the girl Noah, 6-year-old, and his little friends in PS-24 in New York City wanted to help. With big assistance from Brecken of Handreach, we got Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, MA to accept her. But later her family had difficulties to get passports because they lost all their documents in the quake. Meanwhile they got an option to receive treatment in Beijing. My friend Li Guangyou had been looking after Li Yue since very begin. He went to Xian and donated initial10,000 RMB and was committed another 350,000 RMB for Li Yue to get prosthesis.
Also Li Yue’s older sister Li Xing joined us in helping 5-12 children. She is in Mianyang, Sichuan and is work withing with us from there. Her email is lixingdream@gmail.com. Her English is quite good.
