Happy 2009!

 
After Thanksgiving, Larry drove Luwen and Qingfang to Springfield, MA where they were hosted by Haian's family for easy access to Shriners Hospital for Children. Since receiving her new prosthetic hand, Luwen has been learning its functionality through ongoing occupational therapy. During Christmas, Luwen and Haian's youngest son sang "Silent Night" at their church. The year closed with a taste of home when Luwen and Qingfang joined Larry, Noah, Emily & Julia for Sichuan style hotpot back at the Big Apple.

ZHANG Luwen and her mom Qingfang made their way to the U.S., spending a night in Seattle with our friend the Yous and arriving in NYC on Nov 23. Larry, the founder of our group, hosted Luwen and Qingfang during Thanksgiving week. We welcomed their arrival with a traditional American meal: turkey roasted by Emily & Julia as well as Chinese cuisine brought over by Larry's good neighbors, Xiao Fei and her parents. Before, during and after the meal, Luwen and Noah, Larry's son, played together and fought like cats and dogs.
